We are excited to announce the launch of the “Diversity in VC” program we have developed for IDB Lab, the entrepreneurial innovation arm of the Inter-American Development Bank Group. This is an unprecedented program in the region focusing on intersectional identity, with the objective of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in Venture Capital funds in the region.
The first edition of the Diversity in VC program counts with the participation of five funds of IDB Lab’s active portfolio: DILA Capital (Mexico), CITES (Argentina), GridX (Argentina), The Yield Lab Latam (Argentina) and Dadneo (Chile).
What does the program consist of?
Within the framework of the program, each of these five funds will be evaluated from a DEI point of view, and then receive a diagnosis, on aspects related to 1. Internal Processes, 2. Recruitment and Culture, 3. Dealflow/Pipeline, and 4. Portfolio. The objective is to develop a tailored action plan that will allow them to review and implement best practices. To this end, each fund will receive access to support resources, such as policy templates and best practices, as well as customized workshops. Funds will receive training and support to integrate effective DEI practices into their day-to-day operations.
By participating in the program, the funds will become part of Diversity VC’s global community of funds, all of which are working to improve their DEI practices in their internal processes and portfolio management.
This program will foster funds in the region to implement best practices to promote a more diverse, equitable and inclusive venture capital ecosystem in Latin America and the Caribbean.
For IDB Lab, the launch and implementation of this pilot program means working together with their portfolio funds to build capacity and align standards to promote inclusion and build an equitable and diverse VC ecosystem.

Lanzamiento del programa “Diversity in VC” desarrollado para BID Lab con el objetivo de fomentar la diversidad en los fondos de Venture Capital (VC) de América Latina y el Caribe
Nos encontramos entusiasmados de anunciar el lanzamiento del programa Diversity in VC que hemos desarrollado para BID Lab, el brazo de innovación emprendedora del Grupo Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo. Este es un programa inédito en la región y se enfocará en la identidad interseccional, con el objetivo de promover la diversidad, la equidad y la inclusión (DEI) en los fondos de Venture Capital de la región.
La primera edición del programa Diversity in VC cuenta con la participación de cinco fondos que forman parte del portafolio activo de BID Lab:DILA Capital (México), CITES (Argentina), GridX (Argentina), The Yield Lab Latam (Argentina) and Dadneo (Chile)..
¿En qué consiste el programa?
Dentro del marco del programa, cada uno de estos cinco fondos será evaluado desde el punto de vista DEI, para luego recibir un diagnóstico, en particular sobre aspectos relacionados a 1. Procesos Internos, 2. Contratación y Cultura, 3. Dealflow/Pipeline, y 4. Portafolio. El objetivo es desarrollar un plan de acción a medida que les permita revisar e implementar mejores prácticas. Para ello, cada fondo recibirá acceso a recursos de apoyo, como plantillas de políticas y buenas prácticas, además de talleres personalizados. Los fondos recibirán capacitación y contarán con el apoyo necesario para integrar prácticas DEI efectivas en sus operaciones diarias.
Al participar del programa, los fondos pasarán a formar parte de la comunidad global de fondos de Diversity VC, todos los cuales están trabajando para mejorar sus prácticas DEI en sus procesos internos y gestión de portafolio. Implementaremos así las mejores prácticas a los fondos de la región.
Esperamos que este sea el primer paso para promover un ecosistema de capital emprendedor más diverso, equitativo e inclusivo en América Latina y el Caribe.
Para BID Lab el lanzamiento e implementación de este programa piloto significa un primer paso para trabajar junto con los fondos de su portafolio en generar capacidades y alinear estándares para impulsar la inclusión y construir un ecosistema VC equitativo y diverso.
